oil sender unit?
oil sender unit?
I am in the finishing stages of a motor install on my Z28. Where does the oil sending unit go? I can not thread it into the holes above the oil filter area and that is where i took it from the old motor? the new engine is a mid 90's block? Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.

look at the back of the motor on top buy the distributor...or you could start the motor and watch where all the oil comes from....
easy to find when you forget to hook it up..thats what I did...Talk about a mess...

If you are running TPI, the "hole" above the oil filter is for the backup power switch for the fuel pump. (incase the normal circuit fails, this one will energize the pump when oil pressure hits like 10PSI or thereabouts.)
The one you are looking for is right up there beside the distributor, again, if you are running TPI, you need a 90* adapter to keep the sensor out of the way of assorted obstacles. (such as the distributor........)
Have fun.
