v6 to 305 swap

Newbie here-

I came across a pretty good deal on a 3rd gen recently, with a blown v6 engine. I have a spare 305 v8 that I pulled out of my '78 camaro that I'd like to put in it.

The car had the original Buick 3800 Series II 6 cylinder engine and a manual trans. I'm more familiar with 2nd gen f-bodies, so forgive my stupid question...

Is it possible to swap my spare 305 in? will it mate to the v6 trans? how hard will it be, if at all possible? the 305 is carburated.

If not, how much would a new v6 cost? The car is being offered for a song, under 100k, show-room-ready looking Southern car.

Re: v6 to 305 swap

No thirdgen came factory with a buick 3800 series II and a manual trans. Now if it is an 89 turbo firebird get that ASAP.

Otherwise read this

Re: v6 to 305 swap

If it has an L36, then it should be a 95-02, making it a 4th gen, the round body style. Forget trying your LG3 in that. The pre-99 L36 heads crack, but spending $200 for another used L36 is a lot cheaper, and more powerful, than trying to swap the LG3, the alternative is an LS1 swap, at even higher cost.
