Ok thinking the unenviable!!!!
I am debating putting a sbf in my camaro. Ok sounds bad saying it but a sbc is hard to find when in swimming in an ocean of ford motors. Can't get my head wrapped around this swap so any input would be welcome. Avg I'm a gear head!!! That being said, any true gear head would not nag but help with the details. I like all makes of tire melting, frame twisting, power. Mopar, Chevy, or Ford. Although I do prefer the third gen camaro over any other body style. So let's hear some positive feedback. If you have negative things to say about this......don't bother posting. Please.

Which uncle or Father figure helped lead you to believe this was a productive venture?

In the history of cars: putting a Chevy in a Ford is common but putting a Ford in a Chevy is blasphemy & will KILL any value except as parts to two different people. The Ford guy would have to buy tte drivetrain first and NEVER TELL the chevy guy it once had a Ford drivetrain

I don't believe you can't find a SBC. Not quite calling you a liar, but... you ARE in the US after all.
I'd suggest a 5.3/4L60E pullout from a truck, LONG BEFORE even considering something heinous like that.

Oil pan to k member clearance is going to be a nightmare, first major issue. Other than that you can make it all fit with time, money, and a lot of fabrication (motormounts, exhaust, trans crossmember ECT ECT. I know its been done before, Customblackbird swapped 521bbf, so i know its nothing new, but your going to put a lot of work into it for no real gain over a SBC or other better fitting chevy/gm drivetrain
If you can't find a Chevy engine, your not looking with your eyes open.

This is the only guy I remember who did it. Unfortunately all his pictures are gone it was a work of art.

Although unless you already have a very special motor like he did and a **** ton of fab experience I would not do it and just grab either a LS based motor or a SBC

Re: Ok thinking the unenviable!!!!
The real problem is getting around the steering. Converting to a rack-and-pinion would be even more of an investment. Otherwise you have to move the engine up and forward. Both bad.
Beyond that, 302 blocks are weak, 351W blocks are tall and wide, even ported GT40 heads are lousy, and even iron Windsor Sr. heads cost twice as much as a complete LM7.
On a really tight budget, or if 350s are that scarce, or both, a 305 is still a better option than trying to swap the sbf. But unless you want to end up with a blow through turbo setup, or want 150 HP, the extra cost for at least a 350, or better yet an LS, is worth it in the long run.
