Help with Motor swap...
I know the LT1 swap has been beat to death, and yes I have gone through so many archives and links to other sites that I can barely see
I still really need some advice as far as what I will need, and what is some good complementing things to change while I am at it. I have an 88 Camaro with a 305 TBI, no VATS, etc... I AM going to be picking up an LT1 with a 4l60E trans. I am pretty much doing the full 4th gen conversion have most of the interior, going for the dash and door panels once I put in the engine and trans and I am also putting in a 4th gen rear end. Needless to say going the whole route. I want to know all the little things I can put in there and maybe some web links or part numbers? Things like:
Suspension parts (tranny cross members, LCA's, etc...)
What can be added to the tranny? (Torque Converter, etc...)
With the rear end going to disk, what kind of changes will I need to make to my current brake system?
Am I going to have power steering problems?
What headers? I am thinking 1 3/4 SLP's, but hooker long tubes have been suggested...
I want AC any suggestions with that?
How about an aftermarket drive shaft? Like I said the cars open I want to do everything right the first time.
How about wiring and motor mounts? I am really jsut looking to create a list of things, so that when I set aside a week or two complete my car...

You know I really hate when people say "Why don't you get a fourth gen"
If I wanted a 4th gen than I would buy one... The third gens are a much better looking vehicle than the 4th gen could ever be... Especially the convertibles IMO. Putting the things into the third gen that GM always wanted to, but couldn't because of smog laws and not knowing how to work with smog, is what so many of us want to do. How come I get flamed because I am using an LT1 and interior pieces from a 4th gen, but guys putting in aftermarket recaro seats and a ZZ4 are praised? I'm using original GM stuff from an Fbody into an Fbody.
You know the same could be said to someone adding power to any car, well why don't they just buy a ferrari? Because they like their car and just want to make thie ride just that THEIRS.
Anyway... I put the list above of the parts I am already thinking about and wanted to get ideas from people who have done it or are going to do it and the parts they have seen. I welcome anyone's ideas, as long as it is not like the one above
