Really strong numbers, I have a 24X 398" motor in my 93, cars been sitting for the past year or so with a valve train issue. Great to see other LT1 cars out there.

Re: LT1 396 dyno
Thanks guys
My plan is to get another intake manifold and get much more aggressive with the porting. Probably weld in more material to get a taller runner. Also switch to monoblade, should help with more top end.

Excellent numbers! Your car should be a lot of fun
I've seen a couple of LT1 396's fail to break 400 whp. Those had stock Optispark style ignition setups.

Nice numbers, congrats! I'd don't see myself ever doing an lt1 swap on a third gen, but a mid 90's car with those numbers would be a fun daily driver and surprise a lot of ls1 guys, lol!

Re: LT1 396 dyno
VERY NICE!!!! Good to see a traditional small block based build kicking out good numbers. I am about to use the same stroke in a .060" over 400 block with 170cc Etec170s in my Vortec Express van. Its not a high reving build but I am using 6" rods. I already have the 24x setup run by an 0411 and a ported L31 marine intake on the current 350.

Whatever happen to that TBI engine you had on the van? I remember following your posts about it years back. Did you ever dyno it?

Re: LT1 396 dyno
My old TBI in the G-van hit mid 300s at the wheels with worked Vortecs, 2" marine TBI with 61# high pressure injectors at 30 psi (~104 lb/hr each) and a victor jr 2bbl intake. Cam was too mild and compression ratio too low for any more.
The 383 TPI replacement was in the 380 rwhp range. I still have the old G20. Has a 454/502HO cammed 8.1 sitting in it. Have the engine at a point where I have test run it but I still need to swap a 4L80E into it and convert it to 4x4 1-ton running gear. Have other projects and 70-80 hour work weeks in my way at the moment.
Its a bit of a monster sized 1-ton Express van though. 1 ton suspension with a 10.5" full floating 14-bolt under it. The Vans have the same frame 1500-3500 just different suspensions. The heavier suspension literally bolts on to them.
