Need Engine Compartment Pics
Need Engine Compartment Pics
I've been working on an LS1 swap into my 1988 Camaro on and off for 3 years. I finally have the engine in and I'm trying to wire everything up. Pocket made me a custom harness 3 years ago. I'm having some trouble with little things as far as electrical routing, like how the positive cable was routed, where the distribution block goes, etc. I'm trying to keep everything routed in factory locations for a factory installed look.
I took detailed pictures 3 years ago of every harness and piece in the engine compartment. Of course, my phone fell in my pool a week later and all of my pics documenting the engine compartment were lost forever.
If anyone can post detailed up-close pictures of their engine compartment, I would be incredibly appreciative.
Thanks!

It's going to vary depending on what the car came equipped with originally. As a general rule, the headlight harness is going to follow the driver's frame rail forward to the rad support, and then across. The Engine/ECM harness drapes over the passenger's inner fender to the engine and fans out. The Positive battery cable follows the passenger's frame rail back to the starter. TBI and V6 cars used a junction block that is usually mounted to the side of the radiator support next to the battery.
Best bet for photos is to hit Google Images and search for '88 Camaro Engine' or something similar and just browse through the results. If you can find a copy of the 88 Camaro GM service manual, it'll have drawings of where the important connectors, grounds, and harnesses are located.

Mine was a TBI car originally. Does the harness for the fan and power distribution block run up the passenger frame rail with the positive battery cable, or does it run underneath the top of the passenger fender high up on the wheel well?
Thanks!
Thanks!

None of the wiring goes over the wheel wells. On the driver's side there's a plastic channel that guides the wires, on the passenger's side there are usually a few clips.
