Updated Pics of my clean Platinum engine compartment

I wanted to share my progress and show everyone how it's coming along. as always, all comments and suggestions are welcome.

Well, I finally have the L98 residing between the fenders of my 84 T/A, and I'm very close to having it running. I need to install the brake booster/master cylinder and the SLP 1 3/4" primary headers and I'll be pretty much ready to roll. I also just got my plenum extension and non-a/c pulley from gmpartsdirect.com so those will be installed soon.
Here are the pics!

Also, here's the battery in the hatch

Looks really good, nice job. You may want to consider polishing up the TPI or the alternators a little bit, it would look sharp as heck then. What color paint is that exactly?

I dont know why he did it for sure, but usually it is to clean up the engine bay as well as remove weight from the front end...

Tunedport335, I'll take at least one road trip to Worcester this summer. I would love to see your ride again and show off my work in progress. Your plenum puts mine to shame! I would polish mine, but I'd rather get it running right now.

Also, I got the headers on last night and tried to start it up, but it wouldn't friggin run! I'm thinking the fuel pump isn't turning on, so I'm going to try to fix that today. I just hope it's an unconnected harness and I don't have to drop the tank again.

I forgot to reply to a couple things...

85maroz28:
I don't have any more pictures of the hatch area, but I could take some. What exactly are you looking to see?

Yossarian14:
The color is a Chrysler color called Bright Platinum Metallic. It was made famous on this board by Flyinlow89's T/A, and now 85maroz28 owns it.

The color takes away from the motor! You need more new and shiny parts on the motor, now All I see are inner fenders. Nice job on the battery too.

I agree with 86 Iroc, that would be an incredible engine bay if that motor had some more shine to it. It wouldn't be difficult or expensive (you dont seem to be that worried about money) but theres no need to listen to us unless your entering this car into shows.

I do plan on entering it into shows once the whole body is completed... and money is a big issue, so it'll be a little while. I'm glad it looks good enough to make someone think money isn't an issue though

I agree 100% that the engine looks too dull for the rest of the bay. I'm thinking of polishing the plenum and painting the runners black. I also already have an aluminum plenum extension and a non-a/c pulley to clean up the look some more. I'm also thinking that I'll eventually want to paint the heater box body color to get it to blend in some more. The radiator shrowd is also pretty faded, so I should repaint that too.

As for the battery in the rear, it was very easy to install. I bought the tray with hold-downs and all the wiring as a kit from Summit. The kit is made by Taylor. I cut down the corners so I could recess the tray as far back as possible into the rear quarter. I also had to cut down the studs for the hold-down strap. As it is, It looks like it'll just clear the interior panel. About half of the tray is beyond the frame rail that it's attached to. I drilled two holes though the frame rail and put studs through from above. The studs are easily accesible from under the car (I'll take a pic from underneath) and I just put nuts on and tightened them down. I then put a smaller bolt through the battery tray and the sheetmetal that covers the fuel filler neck. That one can be seen in the picture.

Good luck with that, I didnt want to seem like an a-hole for saying that but you seem to be thinking the same thing.

Don't worry, i didn't take it the wrong way. I know it's still a work in progress. I forgot to mention that I got the engine running on Monday! It's loud as all hell with open headers! sounds really mean. I just needed to connect a 12 volt power supply to the fusable link that connects to the fuel pump relay. I didn't quite understand how that connection worked before and lost power to it when I relocated the battery to the hatch.
