305 with 350 heads

Hey y’all so I’m building a 305 and I’m gonna put 350 heads on it which I know will lower my compression but I’ll get more power at the top end but my question is how do I get the compression to go up again.

Put C4 vet aluminum heads on it or iron 305 vortec heads.

Best way is, get a "bore kit" for that 305 block.

Re: 305 with 350 heads

If that is the route you are going to take, then use the thinnest head gasket possible.

A "bore kit" for your 305.

Part #s for this include castings ending in 638, 880, etc. There are acoupla more but it's eeeeeeeezie to find em in the buzzard nest. 96 - 2000 trucks are a great source. They're CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeper than any of the alternatives I can think of for getting the correct compression under 350 heads.

About the STOOOOOOPIDEST thing you can do, is to "build" a 305. As cheeeeeeeeep as the above-mentioned upgrades are, you have to have a head full of sand to spend money on a 305.

What is YOUR head full of? Sand? Rocks? Sawdust? The proof is in your decision.

You WASTED your $200 if you spent it on a 305. Throw it in the trash, take your lumps, learn your lesson, and move on.
