I have a 1988 firebird trans-am with a 350 TPI engine which i have just purchased as a donor car for a swap into a 1983 firebird that has a 2.8 V6 engine in it. Will it require any modification to fit the engine mounts and is there any problems with hooking up the regular type of speedometer to the transmission when the 1988 has a digital dash? I intend to switch all the other equipment over but would rather have the regular speedo over the digital as i have heard that this has already had to be fixed and it appears that the oil pressure gauge is not working properly. Any info will be greatly appreciated. The trans-am has a rusted floor and the frame was welded a year ago so as far as i am concerned it is not worth keeping whereas the 1983 is solid and I have had it since 1984 and it blew the engine so was parked about 15years ago in my garage and has not moved since.
