Electronic Guages?

Electronic Guages?

Hey guys so im being forced in to an engine swap. My tranny on my v6 blew and so im quickly re building my 350 I had lying around but it occurred that for the transmission idk if I have a mechanical or electronic speedo. Its an 1987 Firebird base. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Axle/Gears: Dana 44 IRS 3.75:1

You do know that the trans is different, right? In 87 gauges should be electronic, but I have no experience with the v6 variants. If you're going v8, I would think you need to get all the v8 stuff, harness, buffer and speedo gears for the rear ratio you use.

Yes I’m aware, I’m getting a trans from gearstar, fully loaded. So worse comes to word I’ll do custom gauges but I think it’s electronic?thats what one of my parts guys said but Im not 100/100 we will see when I rip it apart I guess
