LS1 swap third gen

I have had a 1989 RS for a while and now want to swap it for a LS1 engine, my question is "Is it legal" to have on the streets with, will I be fined any way some how if I were to be pulled over? (California)

Lol. Cali sucks for swaps. If you get in a compliance checkpoint (they have them here in Upland) you are screwed. But just driving around and pulled over unless its for loud exhaust its fine.
Finding a smog guy to pass you will be harder and 300 to 500 bucks. Better to save up and put in the smog legal E-rod kit.
