IROC Engine upgrade?
Ok, I think the following is the direction I am going with my 89 TPI 5.0 IROC. The 5.0 in the car will need a rebuild and I would rather go with a 5.7 wanting the car to look stock not wanting mega HP, just improvement over original setup and still look factory. If you know of anything better or any problems I could have with it please comment bellow. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

SDPC - SDPC SD3816 - TPI Vortec Lower Intake Baseplate

Chevrolet Performance - Chevrolet Performance 19367080 - SP350/357 Base Crate Engine

Hooker Street Force Headers 2055-1HKR
Then Bolt it all to a T56 Transmission.

Hello, I know this is a year old, but that is a good combination from what I've read in other threads. I've been looking at it myself. How is your project coming along? Thanks!

Re: IROC Engine upgrade?
Back before the LS-swap got crazy... in 2000 or 2001 I swapped the 305 out of my IROC-Z clone.
I swapped in a Vortec 350 that I heavily massaged to squeeze out some HP.
Back then a 350 HP corvette was the most powerful stock vehicle out there.
I was able to just pass 515 Hp at roughly 6,600 RPM (about 2 years later, I bought a rotating assembly and a 2 stage nitrous system)
It was an inexpensive swap that murdered the street cars of that time.
My point is that you can have plenty of fun inexpensively with a Vortec 350.
If the budget allows for it... spend some money for an aftermarket forged rotating assembly.
If the budget is now very low... go and get some nitrous and have a blast!
If you have some money left after the rotating assembly... the go for a Turbocharger and have some real FUN!
