Engine Super Crooked
Picked up this car as a half finished project and I’m having major issues! The engine seems to be sitting crooked in the engine bay and won’t let the trans line up with the crossmember correctly.
I tried to pry the transmission over and bolt it up but then the clutch wouldn’t disengage!? I’m assuming I put it in a bind by doing that. I also have tried to loosen the mounts and shift it that way but I’m still way off!

Re: Engine Super Crooked
The steel "clamshell" part of the motor mounts are different from side to side, and a set from another vehicle will not work either.

Re: Engine Super Crooked
Well I just took the passenger side clamshell off and it was the right one. What else could be causing this?

Re: Engine Super Crooked
I think I might have found the problem. The rubber on the pass side motor mount looks like it’s been pushed forward and is no longer centered inside the mount.

Time for new motor mounts. Change them both. If 1 failed, surely the other can't be far behind.
Mark everything before removing. The parts can fit together multiple ways - but only the correct way will work.

Re: Engine Super Crooked
Yep, I went ahead and ordered solid mounts for both sides. they seem to get good reviews around here and the car going to be track use only for the most part. I’ll post an update once I get the new ones in.
