yah i already planned on getting the performer RPM manifold for the Vortec heads
well this one guy told me i would need the NEW STYLE block cuz of the bolt pattern
but ok
thanks!

The vortec style heads fit on both the older blocks and the newer blocks. The bolt pattern has to do with the way the manifold fits on top of the heads not the block. Just get that edelbrock you want for vortec heads and you will be alright. Of course if your old heads are the older style heads you will need new narrow bodies self aligning rocker arms to clear the centerbolts.

If the heads come through with stock vortec production valvesprings you'll need to upgrade those. Crane, Comp, ISKY
have stock diameter non-machineing high perf replacements.
The valve retainer to valve guide seal clearance should be checked and increased for your cams nonstock lift. Usually only enough clearance for a .450" lift cam. An easy machining operation. These upgrades may or may not be included from Jegs.
Self aligning '87 and up type rockers are required unless you install screwin studs and guideplates. A simple pocked port and polishing job on the exhaust port is well worth it. 20+ cfm

For all that work and expense, you could get a set of World Sportsman II's that would flow as well (with the same amount of porting to either head), and any "normal" intake manifold will fit. Springs will take the lift, screw-in rocker studs are standard, standard rockers are all that's needed. They'll also have 2.02/1.60" valves.
