88 305 TBI to ZZ4 crate 350

will all my assorcies bolt on? also with a better stall and my shift kit will the 700r4 hold up to the 400 pounds torque? id like to do this swap this summer if i can get the money because the 305 is tired and weak also should i go carb or should i try to adapt TBI to the setup?

I don't normally say this, but if you don't have emissions concerns, then carb would be easier and cheaper to make work. You'll need to make provision for locking the TCC, some other "conversion" things like cables. I've heard some accessories are missing a mount hole in the front of the head, but don't have any direct info on that. You'll want a little higher stall speed to help it spin up into its power band.

i am 99.999% positive that all accessory brackets will bolt up.

i am sure that a few people on the boards will be able to confirm this....

I am gearing up for a similar swap.

305 TBI to:
ZZ4 , Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI, 2600 Vigilante conv, and new Jet 700R4

I also heard there is a missing bolt-hole in the head for the A/C bracket. We shall see.
Also, a higher stall converter would be a good idea for you.

I don't remember what year they changed the AC compressor location but if it is on the pass. side then you will need to drill and tap a hole for the AC bracket (you can make a template from the old head out of cardboard to line the hole up). If the compressor is on the drivers side I don't think there is a problem.

I blew my 700R4 up in just 1200mi. (first shot of nitrous) get it built or buy a new one made to take it.

ok...so does that mean that with the serpentine setup (which all L03s have) the brackets won't bolt up to the ZZ4 heads? ok...i stand corrented.

Yes but just one bolt, some on the board have left it off or fabricated a new bracket. Both of thoes options are bad in my opinion because to fab the bracket takes much longer than just drilling the hole. And I think that if you leave the bolt out the belt could be loose enough to slip off under load.

Also a tip for drilling the hole, slide the bit in the old head and use a piece of tape to mark the depth of the hole and then you won't over do it when drilling the new head.
