85 Trans Am -- Hellcat

Ok so I have a question. Does anyone know if it would be possible to squeeze a Hellcat engine and manual tranny into an 85 Trans am. I know it sounds crazy . Just looking for Ideas.

Hemi Dimensions vs LS Dimensions

Well it looks like the Hemi should fit. Of course that's only step 0 of doing something like this.

Really, this is one of those questions that if you have to ask, don't do it. There are many things that will take lots of engineering and talent that if you have it, you know you have it. If you gotta ask, then no, it won't fit. It does sound like it would be a cool project.

LS and Hemi engines are pretty much on par with each other from a performance perspective, except LS is a lot cheaper and easier. One of the LS variants with piston oil squirters will hold up great.

Re: 85 Trans Am -- Hellcat

The blocks are probably pretty close in size but the heads are huge compared to ls... so plan on ditching the vacuum booster and going manual or hydroboost. The exhaust seems to be lower & wider. I did a swap and they hit the frame.. good luck with custom headers. Easy plug changes though. Its a dbw so need to fabricate pedal mounts. Very little info on wiring so plan on spending a grand on custom harness, I used hotwire custom harness. I couldn't find anyone to tune it with anything other than stock tune, it has no maf sensor which makes things easier. Can be done but twice the headaches and price for same or less performance & more weight with iron block versus ls aluminum block.
