Engine swap in a 1985 F body 3rd gen Firebird
So in my automotive class we're trying to figure out how to put a 4.8L 2005 2wd Silverado into a 1985 F body 3rd gen Firebird. So far we've come up with a couple issues off thing we've herd. Number one is oil pan it's to big for the car but we were thinking of swapping it for something else, could use recommendations. I herd gas tank would have and issue with pressure and perhaps size. Exhaust won't fit but I think we'd some how custom make it or get it custom made. If there's any other issues please say so. It would be very helpful as well as solutions of like work arounds. My teacher wants to use this engine since it was free so we're working around problems and trying to keep it cheap.

Many ways to do this, most of them covered in this forum if you do a search. If you are asking for a detailed plan with out researching it yourself that sound kind of lazy and wont make many friends here. All the answers you need are here, when you get down to details and need help the members here will be glad to help.

Agreed. All of these questions and more have been answered here. Just need to search and also reach the stickies.
Most of the fitment issues are solved by using 98-02’ LS1 F-body components (oil pan, accessory drive, intake manifold, etc.). The 4.8, 5.3 and 5.7 LS1 blocks are pretty much the same, just the everything bolted onto the truck blocks doesn’t fit in the F-body packaging. That’s why the swap gets expensive quickly.

you will need a host of parts least of all motor mounts, either a proper f-body ls style oil pan or you need to massively
modify your k-member for clearance, accessories from an f-body ..... its a pretty intense, drawn out process but well
documented here on thirdgen.org
anything you need to know, you will need to search.the link above in another response has all the details.
it definitely isnt cheap unless you can source all the parts used and that usually takes a lot of time and patience.
