83 firebird V6 to V8 engine swap

I have a 1983 firebird which was a V6 and want to install a 350 from a 1988 GTA but want to keep the original dash gauges. I was told that I would need to change all the wiring from the GTA and also the instrument cluster. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can keep the original gauges instead of the 88 GTA gauges which are the ones that go up and down. If anyone has any input it would be much appreciated.

Instrument cluster has nothing to do with it...

If you want to be emissions-legal, you will have to swap tje ECM and ECM wiring harness. The engine wiring and lights wiring don't need to be changed other than lengthening/shortening a few wires as needed...
