Engine SwapEverything about swapping an engine into your Third Gen.....be it V6, V8, LTX/LSX, crate engine, etc. Pictures, questions, answers, and work logs.
If any of you are in the TPI group on Facebook or the 91-92 Camaro group you may have already seen this but its finally time to "unveil" my winter project. I swapped in a 383 to my '92 Z03 Z28.
In doing the swap I used all ARP hardware and I also kept all factory components and systems except EGR. My reasoning is the condition and otherwise originality of the car.I didn't really want to visually change it. If it didn't have a SuperRam (which I justify by 1:Performance 2: Period Correct top of the line intake) you would never know it was even swapped. I didn't retain EGR because with the Vortec manifold it would need to be external and that would go against my goal.
She runs good, but now I just have to learn A LOT about the tuning world.

Amazing job!!!
Everything looks incredible!
Nice job with the Safety-Wire... are you an Aircraft Technician? ...or a Technician in the US Armed Forces?
Would you know what the Part Number for that Cylinder-Block is? ...if not, could you Post the Casting Number?
Thanks!

I do not know the casting number. Being a roller 4 bolt block I'm guessing it is from a 90's truck. Its what Skip White uses, I'm not sure. Can't really get in to see with it installed I'll see if its visible in any of my pictures.
I am not an aircraft technician or in the military but way back in high school I did go through our tech school and do an aviation maintenance program at a local so for A&P licenses. They screwed up and let me in too early so I got an extra year of the "free" version and essentially got the whole training except a few months and the final testing but I chose a different route.
Pretty. I ran the same 383, super ram, 219 cam combo back in the 2000's and loved it with a 3500 stall converter and 3.73 gears. I could roast the tires at 55 mph after the trans kicked down to 2nd. It was a great street combo.
