1984 Camaro Z28 305 to 350 swap Questions
Hello everyone. I have a 1984 Camaro Z28 305 in bad condition. This is my first project car and I don't really know what I'm doing. Any help would be appreciated.
The 305 that was in the car is seized due to the owner taking off the carb cover and then parking it in a forest. Lot of water got in and just rusted it completely. I did not know this at the time as I had no prior experience, but here we are.
I have removed the 305 but left the Auto transmission in the car. I am looking to swap something in that is easy and cheap. After reading some forums I thought swapping in a 350 would be better than another 305.
My questions are what will need to buy to put a 350 in.
The 350 I am looking at buying is complete with a heads and intake and a carb.
Can I keep the stock transmission?
Is the 1984 Camaro tbi or carb? What will I need if to do to the 350 tbi or carb set up to make it work?
Is the wiring harness and computer the same?
Can i keep the existing exhaust manifolds?
As I said I am new and have basically no idea what I'm doing so any help would be appreciated and feel free to point out if I am wrong on anything or if I need to give more information on anything.
