Would o 85 Corvette l98 with ECM and harness direct fit in a 85 base model Camaro? I know engine mounts and such have to be changed.

When you say Base-Model Camaro...
Do you mean the Iron-Duke 4-Cylinder Engine? ...what exactly are we talking about here?

Re: 85 l98 direct
Right now it has the 2.8 mpfi. Auto. So I know that everything v6 has to go and everything v8 has to be installed. As far as the Corvette parts go is what I was wondering. Tune said oil pan has to go. I have one off a Camaro 305 . I have exhaust manifold if I need. Would the ECM and harness plug in and work or do I need to use a different harness and ECM

Exhaust-Manifolds and a whole lot more, will be required for the swap over to a V8.
You should really research Threads that other Members here have created for their own V6 to V8 Swaps!

The Two Main Electrical Connections for the 1985 Camaro, are the C100 Fire-Wall Bulk-Head, and the Passenger-Side Fender/ Kick-Panel Pass-Through.
Neither of which will Connect to a 1985 Corvette Engine-Harness and PCM.
The Engine itself is not a complex Swap.
However Wiring changes would be very complex for someone who is not familiar with Automotive Wiring.
You would be much better off to purchase used 1985 Camaro TPI Wiring...
The C100 Harness, The Engine Harness, and the PCM... all for a 1985 Camaro with TPI.
Use your favorite Internet Search-Engine (Google or other) to look up a Website: Berlinetta.Info
He has a "Parts for Sale" Page with Used Harnesses available.
Also, you will need Original 1985 Corvette and 1985 Camaro GM Service Manuals/ Technician's Guides... specifically the Electrical Manuals (Aftermarket Manuals are not going to even come close to helping).
Good luck to you, you're gonna need it!

Re: 85 l98 direct
I do have the shop manual for 85 Camaro. I've done about 5 v6 to v8 swaps . Just never used a Corvette engine. A search would not be real helpful on this question. I've already got the information I was looking for in what response I've got. Thanks again for everyone's time

A Corvette L98 swap isn't usually too difficult if you are already starting with a V8 TPI F-body. There are a bunch of things that are Corvette specific that need to get swapped over to work in the F-body platform, but at the end of the day it's just a small block Chevy. Since you are starting with a V6 car, you'll need to source these specific items from a V8 donor car, or piece them together. There are probably more, but the things that come to mind:
-Oil pan. The Camaro 305 pan you have will work as long as it is for a 2-piece rear main seal (85' and older)
-F-body exhaust manifolds or headers
-The external EGR system tube will not connect to the F-body exhaust manifolds, so you would need to use an EGR blockoff plate and eliminate the EGR in the tune. Or, use headers with the external EGR pipe flange
-F-Body TPI fuel rail (fuel lines connect on the drivers side, Corvette is on the passenger side)
-85' TPI wiring harness and ECM. You might be able to modify the V6 MPFI harness, using the Corvette harness and make one that will work, but that's pretty involved. Getting a donor 85' TPI harness would be much easier.
-F-body accessory belt drive and brackets. The Corvette setup is different, also uses a different water pump. Not sure if it will fit in an F-body.
-Various sensors may be different between the F-body and Corvette, but most are available at local parts stores or RockAuto.
-Transmission? The V6 transmission won't bolt up and the Corvette transmission doesn't have the provisions for the torque arm. Will need an F-body specific auto (7004r) or manual (T5 or T56)
