I just got a 1986 Pontiac Firebird and need to replace the engine

So I found a 1984 pickup S10 2.8 Engine and I’m curious if that would work with my 4-speed automatic THM 700R4 Transmission. I saw on a previous thread about a 1986 Firebird saying any 60 degree 2.8 v6 RWD engine will work. But I just wanted to ask more specifically before I buy the engine and find out it doesn’t work. I am extremely new to cars so anything help.
