Is this a good swap for my '89 LB9?

Hi Folks! For my 1989 IROC Z Vert, TO REPLACE THE OE LB9/305 TPI /A4.

I am thinking L98 or L31 Vortec ...retaining the original TPI (yes, Scogin Dickey lower intake)

Facebook in St. George, UTAH Location won't post, here.

Of course, I would consider it a $200-300 CORE, to be rebuilt by me.

Re: Is this a good swap for my '89 LB9?

Only thing id use is the crank, rods, block maybe pistons and some of the metal tins.
edit... didn't realize this was a vortec engine. Id use long block with a cam/spring swap. Would also need thevlower vortec/tpi base.

Used to be able to buy a vortec (not that tbi) shortblock from gm for 1100-1200.
