LS1 Alternator close to Engine Mount Bolt

My stock LS1 alternator is 3/16 inch from the driver side engine mount bolt. Is this too close? I had another alternator that fit without this issue but it was slightly larger and was getting caught by the steering rack on right hand turn? Is this far away enough? Maybe an insulator and cutting down that stud a bit might help? I'd appreciate your input.

Re: LS1 Alternator close to Engine Mount Bolt

In case someone reads this, I ended up grabbing a grade 8 nut and leaving it on when I cut about 3/16 off with a cut off wheel. I then tapered it a bit and then ran the nut up and down the stud a few times. I ended up with about 3/8 of a gap between the two where I put a terminal boot on. Seems "good enough".

I may be wrong but I believe you can unbolt the stud from the alternator housing and use a bolt with a nut as a stopper for the base making it closer to the alternator housing and allowing more clearance.
