How does the alternator mount?

I swapped engines, ripped apart the accesories, now 3 weeks later I have a box of parts from mixed years and can't get the alternator on right. The extremely long bottom bolt of the alternator (passenger side alt.) just keeps pushing the alternator closer and closer to the engine block- I don't quite see what stops it. The casing itself hits the block, not the back of where the bolt is. Anyone have a side shot so I can sorta piece it back together?

You're missing the bushing that the pivot bolt goes through behind the lower alternator bracket.

Thats what's baffling me, I can't find it for the life of me and don't thing I've ever seen it. I think the guy before me "lost" it.

Shouldn't be too difficult to improvise something.

Use a couple nuts or a nice socket, the socket will give your motor some bling too

I found some hollow steel pipe that I cut to size. Thanks alot- my car just needs to be wired up, power steering pump, and fluids.

Nah. But there's nothing like stock accesories with chrome brackets! I'll start a new fad.
