305 to a 500ci caddy engine
hey guys,
I'm checking out engine options, I was at a junk yard today and I found everything from what I thought was a 305 all the way up to a caddy 500. heres the deal where on the engine can I find the engine number so I can tell what it is. can someone post a picture with an arrow.
what cars came with 350's and were they more common with 2 bolts or 4 bolts. and will it bolt up to my tranny(700r4). there were alot of monte carl ss, and oldsmobile cutlas supreme's, and a regal or 2, even some caddys. which one should I be checking for my new engine. I am looking for a direct replacement for my lg4, I want the block and heads in one engine I don't want to mix and match. help me out. I don't have enough time and money for the 500 ci caddy engine.

back of the motor drivers side bye the flywheel...hard to see with the motor in the car. the 700r4 will bolt up as long as its a v-8 . The monty and caprice are good candidates.

I don't believe the Monte SS's ever came w/ 350s, only HO 305. Base model Montes did, however. Hell, just look around for any GM vehicle--truck, wagon, etc that could hold a V8. Most will be 305s, but there should be some 350s too.
