Im an amature with many ??

Hi Im swapping and engine in my 1992 rs it is a 305 to a 350 that came from my brothers (88 gta or trans am whatever you want to call it.) the engine has about 70000 miles on it. Now Im probably going to try to get away without a rebuild, but Im still going to take off the heads having them cleaned and i believe shaving the bore to raise the compression and doing the porting with my brother. After all that is done Im going to put in a cam. Ive been hearing alot of good things about lt1 cams, would that be good for a 350 or what would i want? I will also be using the tbi off my old engine and throwing on a flowmaster exhaust and a 100 shot of nitrous.

Now Im sure you can tell I am not the smartest or the richest. but my brother has the brains but i hate bothering him all the time with question and want to learn and see what everyone else thinks. So just let me know what it is I should do.
thanks
matt

Sounds like a decent swap to me, but also a decent amount of work. If you are planning to run the tbi setup and your old computer, you may want to check on the tbi board to see what they would recommend for a cam. If I was doing the swap, I would definetly spend the extra few hundred dollars to rebuild the motor (definetly if you are planning to run spray). Even if you use all stock spec's it will still probably perfrom remarkably better after a fresh rebuild...and think down the road a little bit. Will you really want to pull the motor again? As I said before the tbi guys are experts on this, but I think you will want to upgrade your TB to a unit from a 350 truck tbi setup, and maybe your intake.

Good luck

Hey thanks for the info
Yep I'm in for a whole lot of work and its gonna cost too.Right now I have the open element, do you think the truck unit is better? For that intake should I go single or double plane and whats the difference? Well I will go with that rebuild ive decided to spray the 305 figured I'd beat it up before I get rid of it. Im buying the kit from a friend but his was on tpi so I believe I will have to buy a plate and some adaptors on the fuel side.
thanks matt
