Lt1 heads on older block
Lt1 heads on older block
Any one with ideas about using Lt1 heads on an older 350 short block. Some one has said there is a water passage problem, but was not specific about that area. I am condidering a pair of heads and the Lt1 intake as a combo, so the intake matching is not a problem. Thought or comments????
with over 2000 hour of machine work it might be possible but I doubt ...the thing is with those engines, the waterpump has a reverse flow ...then, there's a steam line in the back of these heads and and the manifold for an LT1 is dry ....so I don't know how you'll figure out to make this combo work.

It's possible to modify them to make them work with a lot a machining, but they don't flow well enough to justify the effort or expense. It would be a lot easier to adapt the intake alone. Just my .02.

I saw an article in chevy high performance a few years ago that told about someone doing that. So it can be done. The main question is why. I have seen whole lt1s for 1200 dollars. It seems like if you want the top end why not get the whole thing.

Thanks John, this gives me the courage to proceed. Saw your article in TPI about Lt1 conversion. Fbird 88---read the article on flow, people have replaced these heads with cheap alum after market and seen very little improvement. Kory---it is the money $1200 for the engine or about $400 for the top 1/2, and the pride involved in doing it. Kory--Maybe we will run into each other being from ***"s country? Thanks again John, I will keep you posted on what happens in '02
