New Life for a 1992 RS??? Need help...
I'm looking at my options for a new engine into my 1992 RS. It currently
has a 305 TBI. Are there any emission legal options for a new 350? Because
of my student status I haven't the time or money to do this myself not to mention my ignorance on the subject. I will need a qualified mechanic to install this one for me. How much do you this might cost? What do you all think of this turn-key 350 package
http://www.enginefactory.com/newchevy.htm
???
Anybody know how good this guy's reputation is?
Think this could be made emission legal?
Will I need a new hood with more clearance for this?
If I get the gears changed (maybe 3.42's) will I keep the posi?Cost for a shop upgrading gears?
Thanks guys!!
e-mail me if you want.

My first thought was, you're a college student, short on money, and you want to PAY someone to do a hobbiest' job? What's wrong with this picture?
1st, you don't need a carb and intake. Click on the "fuel injection engines also available" link and start from there.
As for your other questions:
I don't know anything about that guy. Perhaps someone else does, or ask on the aftermarket vendors forum.
It would not be technically "emissions legal" because the only "emissions legal" 350's in 3rd gens were TPI. Convert to TPI, the answer is "yes". There's also "practically legal", meaning you could get it past inspection & testing by making it look like it's still a 305 (not hard).
No hood clearance problems.
You can get gears for your posi. Price will vary, start at around $500 for gears and installation, anything you get better than that is gravy.
You're welcome.
I'll just let you read this.
