Is there a way to switch out the motor mounts without taking out the engine?

 

Yeah. Unbolt the mounts, jack the engine up by secure areas (like the oil filter pad, maybe the balancer), and remove the springs to get at 'em. My Haynes manual for a G-body has a pretty good write-up on changing oil pan or rear main seal w/ the engine in the car; most of that will apply.
