TBI or Carb for 355 Engine

Posting this for a friend. He has a 88 Camaro 305 TBI and a new TCI 700R4 trans. We are trying to decide weather to stay with TBI or go Carb, whichever is better/cheaper. We can locate a 454 TBI and the computer parts for it. The cam is the main concern, but can allways be changed out if its too much of a prob. We are looking for low 14/high 13 times. Thanx.

<< I plan on buying another motor for my 88 and was wondering if I can still use TBI or if I have to use carbed aspiration. The reason I'm asking is because the seller showed concern when I told him I wanted to keep the car computer driven. He said it might idle too rough but I'm going to post the specs and let you gear heads point me in the right direction. The specs are as follows:

355, steel crank, forged trw domed pistons, comp 280H cam (280 degrees duration, .480" lift), comp roller tip rockers (1.52:1 ratio, actual lift at valve is .488), edelbrock performer rpm intake, stock 487X heads w/ gasket matched intake ports, stock rods, water pump, balancer, and oil pan. Engine ran 13.2 @ 103 in 80 Z28 w/ 4.10 gears. Approximately 340 hp at about 5300 rpm (based on horsepower calculator by weight, e/t and speed). Thanx to whoever takes time to reply. >>

Well you could always use a 454 TbI with four injectors, that would work, you'll have to reprogram the PROM , also get a good intake and an adapter plate ...

Gas wise, the carb will eat out your wallet but it will still be expensive with the TBI.

Myself I would go with an LT1 intake but that might be a little expensive.

I don't know if you're thinking about going with the same combo as you wrote but 4:10 gears are a little high for daily driving and I'm thinking this motor will make around 290-300 rwhp max since your 88 camaro has 2.73 gears in the back.
