4.3 Liter v-6 in a Bird
Hey guys i posted this on the v-6 board but thought that this might be a better place. I have a 4.3 liter v-6 out of a 91 s-10 picvk up and i wann put it into the Bird (89 2.8) I wanna know what im gonna need to do this. I already have the engine and it is complete and nto in bad condition. it has a 700r4 attached to it which is the main reason why i bought it i got both for only 120$. If you guys could help me out by tellin me what im gonna need to get this thigninto my car I would appreciate it

The 4.3 is 3/4 of a 350. From the engine mounts back, they're identical. The front end is the same, just one cylinder's worth farther back.
Basically, you're looking at a V8 swap's-worth of work. Mostly the same stuff needed. Front springs could be an issue, since the 4.3 is heavier than a 2.8, lighter than a V8. It's been done by a few guys (ede, for instance), you'll just have to work through a few issues that us "V6 to V8 guys" didn't.

yep i've done it and it's a fair amount more work than a v6 to v 8 swap. the lower motor mounts have to be relocated rearward 3". exhaust is a bit of a problem as well, but nothing that can't be done. if you want to keep ecm controls you'll have the eprom to deal with too.
