Does anyone know where I can find out what GM put stock roller cams into?

Did they ever put one in a 305? What was the first year of the Roller Motor, I know Ford started around 86 in the 302... I think...

How can I tell if the engine I am looking at in a junkyard has a roller cam in it?

I forget weather GM started roller train in 86 or 87, but to answer your question, 305's did come with roller valve trains. The easiest way to tell if you have a roller motor are the center bolt valve covers. Even the crappy TBI motors were rollers.

GM started it in 87. I am 99% sure Ford started it in 85, not that it matters but anyway...
