I have a 1991 RS with a 305 TBI and a 5-speed. Anybody have an idea it would cost to bring it to a place and have them do all the work to put in a LT1 engine?

lets see: LT1 engine off EBay $1500 (assuming you get the complete engine)

you 'll also need a wiring harness, ECM, time and lots of patience

you also need a new fuel pump

your fuel pump pressure is about 13
you 'll need about 35-45

maybe about $2500 if you do all the work yourself

 

I said how much would it be If I had a shop do all the work, I also looked on ebay for an engie, nothing for $1500, more like $3000

 

some kid i know had a carbed 350 swapped into his carbed 305 and they charged $6000 with parts and labor

so it aint gonna be cheap man

 

it cost me about $2500-$3000 to do my swap, even getting the complete engine and harness for $2500. Id say double that if you want a shop to do it.

 

So about $4000 to $6000, ya that is alot. I wish I could do the work. I could prob get it done but I know something would blow up.

 

The engine with tranny was 1700$ CAD.
I in bought
1 radiator 450 CAD
1 water pump 110 CAD
1 fuel pump 98 CAD
1 set of headers traded for a BBQ ! FREE

and about 500$ of junks ...like oil,fuel lines, gasket...


so about 3000$ Canadian ...
