Another LT1 Question...
Another LT1 Question...
I have an 86SC with 305 Auto (700r4). Have a chance to get an LT1 block and heads, basically everything except for the pumps on the front and no top end. I've just put an Edelbrock Performer manifold, Holley carb, and non-CC HEI distributor on the 305.
What would be required for the LT1 swap into the 86SC and what else would I need to know for this? I've read the other LT1 swap posts and they are strictly FI. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...

Personally, I'll say right now it's a waste of time to use an LT1 unless you're going EFI. A Gen I SBC would be simpler.
Now...
The GM 4bbl intakes fit the LT1 and LT4 (there is one for each) and take a std. distributor.
The accessories... probably easiest to use 4th gen LT1 accessories, other than the AC compressor (if you're going AC delete pulley this makes things simpler) The reason putting on older pulleys is weird is that the LT1 water pump doesn't have a pulley dead centre, so
Stock v8 third gen motor mounts bolt right up to an LT1, so does any chevy tranny, and the oil pan is just 86-up f-body not 4th gen specific.
SB headers will work; just get some with an appropriate match to the D-port exhaust ports. Some of Hookers line have this.
You might need a diff. distributor gear since it's a roller :dunno:
It's just another SB, other than the water pump area, really.
