400 roller?

400 roller?

Could someone tell me if it's possible to make a 400 a roller motor and if so what needs to be done? And would the gains be worth it? Also, could someone explain to me exactly what you can do with DFI? Can you use DFI with the miniram? And will the miniram work with a 406?

I've also been hearing about the 377, does anyone have some information on it? I would like to check all of my options before I buy this 400. I found a guy selling a virgin 400 out of an impala, 60,000 miles on the motor. Complete with everything for $450, and i believe it's a 2 bolt main. I think it's a good price. Anyway, thank you for all the information!!! Sorry about the list of questions.

DFI is Accel's tradename for their replacement FI system. It's the computer and the software to run on a laptop or something to set it up with. You can run it with any speed-density control system. The Miniram will work on a 400.

A 377 is a 400 block with a 350 crank in it. IMHO you'd be shooting yourself in the shorts to remove 25 cu in from your motor.

The heads that come on a 400 are garbage (882 casting). Throw them away. Same for the pistons. It will be a 2-barrel intake, so throw that away too. The only part worth anything is the short block.
