ID my engine please

I need some help identifying the engine in my 86 ta. I know its probly not the original engine cause its carbed, and the original was tpi. THe only number i can find is right behind the passenger side head right in front of the transmission. The number is 1408851. It has exaust manifolds with no air. the pully on the crankshaft has two spaces for v belts closest to the engine, and then a spot for a serpentine belt. Anyone know if this is a 305, or a 350, and what year is it? How about a code? LG4?
thanks alot.

Hey Aaron,
From my listings(from the chevy parts interchange manual).........you're actually missing a digit......but the closest matches are: 14088551 (this seems closest as you may have omitted the second 5) it is a:86-87 305,w/flat tappet and a one piece rear seal,2 bolt.......the other 140885** blocks are:
14088526:350 87-89 roller cam,one piece seal
14088548:350 86-88 flat tappet,one piece seal 4 bolt mains......
Hope any of this helps............

Hey thanks alot. I checked it again and i did forget the other 5.
Heres another question. What do the 2 bolt, and 4 bolt mean. I hear alot of people talking about it, but i never really understood what it is. Which one is better? Thanks.

Hello again......
"2 bolt" and "4 bolt" basically tells you the "strength" of the main caps on your motor.A 4 bolt block has a 2 bolt front main cap and 2 bolt rear main cap.To give you the short summary, most blocks are 2 bolt mains, unless it was a high performance vehicle.(Corvette,etc.)......a 2 bolt block can withstand up to 500 HP,just make sure you use quality main cap studs and nuts instead of stock/cheap stuff when building. For stock street and mild performance a 2 bolt block is more than fine.If you're building for more power(above 500 HP),or plan on using giggle gas(nitrous),turbo's,or superchargers then you want a 4 bolt block.........basically a 4 bolt is "stronger" than a 2 bolt.....Hope this clears it up alittle for ya.........L8R!
