Need Help!! Pulling Wires For New Motor
i am gettign ready to put my new motor in my car.. at this point in time i am cleaning the engine bay and sortign what wires i need and what i dont need.. on the drivers side there are all the relays..when i took them off the fire wall there are more wires that go into the fire wall.. there are clips holding them there i cant seem to get them undone anyone have any tricks?? i really dont wana cut yet till i know what i need and what i dont.. thanks
I just gutted a wiring harness yesterday, and if you're talking about that nice square cluster underneath the relays, just pull the tabs and there is a bolt(7 mm or so) holding it in the center.Undo the bolt and pull 'em apart. If I'm not mistaken, your actually going to have two "plugs" going into the firewall. These being the main part of your harness and your headlight harness "attached" to the left. These seperate if you pry them apart.Just play with it alittle and you'll see what I mean...................
if you are looking at the box on the driverside firewall from the front of the car the left set of wire are for lights and stuff the one on the right is your engine wiring harness.....7mm socket from the outside and it should come out. the bolt is long and may take a while to unscrew but you can do it all from outside the car. since it is now unscrewed just pull the wires out.
ok i guess i dont get what u mean by just pull on the wires. what are they hooked to behind the firewall?? and u say just unscrew the bolt?? how is there a head on the inside or anything?? how hard should i have to pull on the wires if i get a chance i will take a pic in the morning and post it so u can see hwo far i am thanks so far!!!
no bolts on the inside of the car. once the screw is as loose as you can get it just disconnect the harness as you would any other harness. this connection will take a little time to get apart and you may have to disconnect the right one or the left one first then the other. I can't remember the exact order but if you pull on the plastic connectors and it should come off without too much hassle. It took me about five minutes to remove the firewall connection and the connection that goes to the ecm. Hope that helps.
