Tranny Bolt Up

I have been considering pulling my LG4 305 out of my car ,and putting a older 350 in. What years for the 350 can I use? My 305 is a 1987. What will match up with the TH700R4 tranny i have?

Also will top end of my 305 ,heads ,and intake be usable on a older 350. I ask because i may have a 350 block ,that doesnt have heads or intake on it.

See this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=98798.

Most any SBC, at least older ones, will bolt to the tranny. The only issue is the flex plate, answer in thread above.

The 305 heads will "work" on a 350. The problem is the 305 chambers are smaller than on 350 engines, so compression will be much higher. That probably won't be a problem if the 350 has dished pistons and you use a thick composition gasket to mount the heads. But, the 305 heads will be restrictive to the 350. You'll still get more power than you did out of the 305, though.

Exhaust becomes a real issue. Most factory 305 exhausts choke a 305, so a 350 is even worse.
