Where should I buy the HOT cam from?

Guys,

Where would be the cheapest place to order in the LT4 HOT cam from in the UK? If it costs approx $180 in the US I am guessing on about £180. Would prefer to use a Brit company to avoid VAT and customs...

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Felix

Miss out the middle man in the UK and source it from the U.S. Have a look on ebay, they should come up there.

Thanks Rob. What could I expect to pay in import and carriage costs though? Would customs have fun with me?

Have just ordered one through Ebay. $215 excluding shipping and import duties. Any ideas what the duties will be?

Thanks,
Felix

I think you could have got it a little cheaper than that. I would ask them to ship it without a value on the packaging and send the receipt seperatley to dodge the C&E people.

The other thing you could do is get it shipped to a friend in the U.S. and get them to ship it out that way.

I take it you are fitting it yourself? What gains are you expecting?

Hi guys,

Rob, it seemed like the best deal at the moment. Out of interest I was quoted £365 from a uk importer who shall remain nameless... Becuase of the weak dollar at the moment it has cost me £115 + shipping which is good enough for me. He is putting down a far lower figure on the declaration form to help me out which is cool- saying it is 2nd hand!!

I don't think I'll fit it myself- not really comfortable doing the job. Gains are proven as 40 BHP and 15 lb/ft torque I'll be happy with that!

Boydee, tried Peter Cooper before but this is a bit too niche for him. I used him for remidial stuff all the time- e.g brakes and bushes. "it wasn't in the storrreee out baaaackkkk" as he likes to say bless him

Hi PM,

Congrats on the engine man, I know you'll love it.

The ZZ comes with roller rockers so will be fine.

Cheers,
