Steering brace.... GET ONE!

My steering brace aka Wonderbar from TDS arrived and I've fitted it today. Wonderbar indeed! I'd had the stress cracks plated and welded around the steering box a couple of weeks back. The flex was reduced dramatically as you would expect. After fitting the brace, the box hardly moves at all - SWEET! Steering is more precise, and I don't think I heard a "pop" on full lock either (I'll have to have another go because I was so pleased with the strengthening results that I wasn't paying attention!)
Assuming you can get the anti-roll bar bolts undone, then fitting is SO easy. I didn't even need to jack the car up (not a s fat as I thought I was). I even got a free TDS pen in the instructions too

Thanks Lon and TDS.

Mark.

Hi Mark,

This sounds good and something I'd like to do to.

How quick and how much was the delivery?

Cheers,

Allen.

Delivery time about a week via UPS expedite 87 and a bit dollars (it weighs 4 lb). A bit pricey, but that's before I realised that the USPS do international deliveries too. Lon (Mr. TDS) offered to change the order details but I said let it ride for this one. He gives excellent e-mail updates re:tracking/invoice etc.

The sting in the tail was VAT and import duty - almost £25 !!
UPS phoned me and said the part is in country and I could pay over the phone via a card.
Damn Customs & Excise!!

Good old import duty and vat, I'm fully aware of those thanks to ordering bits for my Dad's Corvette.

Delivery time sounds impressive though.

May well order myself one in the next few days.

Cheers,

Allen.

Mine has just arrived and i got the free pen too

Looks like i've got a busy weekend what with the diff cover gasket leaking and the Corvette needing some work.

I love it really.

Mind you don't drop the anti-roll bar on your head!
NO I didn't do that either (just missed!)

Was talking to Mark today, he cant understand why you have the 9 bolt diff, being a GTA it should have the big one, like mine, apparently thats why our calipers are different.

That one's aimed at me Mark.

Got a leak on the diff cover, which i believe to be the 9 bolt axle, Ben's only jealous because mine is superior

I bet the Pontiac engineers came up with the idea before Chevrolet "borrowed" it. Anyway mine's red and not rust coloured.
