Car: VIN=85 T/A, CAR=82/3 T/A gfx, go figure. She's a T/A anyway!

Axle/diff required..

The planetary gears in the current diff on my 85 T/A are knackered. I either need to get a new axle or a new diff (LSD preferably this time!).

Anyone know where I should make enquiries?

Cheers,
Mark.

I just threw my old axle away, but it was very noisy, and not posi.
I got mine off a guy in Birmingham, he seems to break a few here and there.
If i can find his number, your welcome to it.
I just e-mailed all the US car spare dealers in the UK, and one from Brum rang me back with his number. It was a bit dear at £200, but was mint condition and totally complete, even tho its drums i was well happy.

Thanks R1
I was at the garage before they'd put the cover back on and oil in it. Weird, it was just one planetary gear which was well pitted and worn more than the others. The pinion and crownwheel were great.

UPDATE:-

I've sourced a diff unit - £100. It's a good one - Fred knows what he's looking at, not an LSD, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. So now I've got the option of just replacing the planetaries in the unit already on my car, so's I don't disturb the pinion and crownwheel mesh otherwise I'll be needing the collapsible shim and more labour time...

Oh well £100 isnt bad.
Its just assembling a diff i personally couldnt be arsed with, its been so long since i did one.
I didnt even take the cover off the old one , the back axle was as rusty as hell.

Hehe, I can't be arsed either, that's why the garage will be swapping the planetaries over and fitting new rear wheel bearings.
