replacement tail pipes?
replacement tail pipes?
I have a very old dynamax cat-back system on now. The muffler is rusted so bad that one of the tailpipes came out. The intermediate pipe is in great shape though, I'm pretty sure it's a 3" too. I want to order a replacement Hooker Aerochamber muffler but I'll need tailpipes too. Anyone know where I can get pipes? I've heard you can order dynamax pipes piece by piece, but i don't know how or where. I'll also get tips from somewhere too.
Also, anyone know if I can get a Hooker replacement muffler that has a 3" inlet and dual 3" outlets? then I could use 3" tailpipes.
Thanks a lot. I don't wanna spend $260 on a catback when i already have the intermediate pipe, especially when the muffler is only $75. Thanks again.

call summit, if they don't know the part numbers offhand they can give you dynomax's telephone number so you can call them.

YOU CAN BUY MANDREL BENT PIPES ANYWHERE YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK. MANY MANUFACTURES ARE MANDRAL BEND EVEN THE CHEAP JC WHITNEY CAT BACK SYS WHICH IS MADE BY PACE SETTER. SHOP AROUND YOU WILL BE SUPPRISED ON WHAT YOU FIND AT LOWER PRICES.
IMO, I'd say that mandrel bends on dual outlets are redundant anyway. The flow of exhaust exiting a crossflow-type muffler is so outta whack allready, there's not a whole lot of advantage to paying extra for mandrel bends in the last 36"...

so your saying a 3 inch catback that isnt mandrel bent wont make a difference? if thats true ill just buy the aerochamber crossflow muffler and get a shop to weld up a catback. i dont have any pipes going out the back now just a homemade ****ty ypipe into a flowmaster 40 series right where the cat should be. how much will it cost to install a muffler and make new pipes to go to it?

depending on the shop they might not do the work if you do not have a cat. but i would expect to pay anywhere between 125 to 250 for the pipe bending and welding from the ypipe all the way to the muffler then tailpipes
Dr. Gas sells f-body tail pipes. For some reason they are in the NASCAR section at www.drgas.com.
