SLP Header Q's
I've got the SLP 1 3/4" no AIRs and they are turning red and are really hot. Is this normal? It is hot enough to start melting the steering shaft rubber boot about 1 foot away from the firewall. Should I wrap the headers? I don't want to but I may have no choice. They are not coated and I really like the looks of stainless, so I could use some help.

No, that's not normal. They will get hot but they shouldn't be glowing red. Is the motor running right? I know that if the timing is off or if your running lean, the headers can start glowing. Also, I would not recommend wrapping the headers. There are too many negatives to doing it.
Hope that helps!

Check your cat. My blazer had a plugged cat and my exhaust manifolds were glowing red hot. And yes. It will melt the rubber!!! And if it is the same line as mine(clutch), it will start a nice fire.
I would say check that first then see if you are too lean.
