Aftermarket Y-pipe

I was posting in another topic and someone said that a larger y pipe will help alot....what aftermarket y pipe will bolt up to a hooker catback?

Unless you have headers don't waste your money on a y-pipe. A lot of headers come with a y-pipe. I don't think an aftermarket one would fit on the stock manifolds.

I have SLP's 2 1/2" Mandrel bent Stainless Steel Y-Pipes that bolt onto my "91" LO3's stock exhaust manifolds. I noticed an improvement when hooked up to my Random Technologies Cat and Flowmaster Crossflow muffler. The 2 1/2" pipes join into a 3" collector. You'll notice an improvement even with the stock exhaust manifolds because the stock manifolds are so short. The SLP Y-Pipe cost about $279 go to www.slponline.com. Here's a picture of it.

Why not just get the hooker headers that come with the y-pipe... Everything's direct fit and all...

dang $279? I remember when they were $199. You might as well get some headers for that price range.

i just looked on the site and it says 199 for an 83-91....and as for the headers...my uncle told me about how he had to change his gaskets like every month on his bird, and the delightful topic of emissions comes up too.

no gaskets on Hooker headers 2055. They use a ball flange.

I think SLPs use doughnut gaskets, not positive though.

My car sounds very aggressive when revved up and other hot rodders are always asking me what kind of headers I have. Also, I did pay $199 for the Y-Pipe not $279 sorry for the mistake.

I have a 2 1/2" intermediate pipe going to the flowmaster crossflow muffler. My car always gets compliments on the sound and even though it doesn't do the 1/4 mile in 13 or 14 seconds, you couldn't tell by the way it sounds that it couldn't! I bought my car for two reasons, Looks and Sounds!

Oh Yeah, one of the reasons I installed the SLP Y-Pipe is because of the hassles that go along with Headers ie... re-tightening header bolts every year, fried ignition wires or having to wrap with heat sleeves, fried starters and higher underhood temperatures. I know most of these can be fixed easily but Reliability is a main priority with me. I don't want to put something on and have to keep checking up on it and I think the SLP Y-Pipe was a good compromise for me.
