Yeah, but it will probably sound like crap on a stock setup. I did hear one on the sound section of this site, sounded nice, the motor was built up though. I'd go with a flowmaster or Hooker aero-chamber before that. Sound clip of the Hooker is in my signature.

Glasspacks are an old technology, and don't sound good on our cars stock (due to low compression, wimpy cam, restrictive heads, etc.) They do sound good on motors that have been hopped up though. What I would reccomend is the hooker aero-chamber. These sound good on our cars with a stock setup, but if you do decide to go with the glasspacks, the longer they are, the lower the sound is. Not sure what size you should actually get though, maybe someone else here knows.

Back in the olden days when I was young, you could get two glass packs, (also called cherry bombs) for about fifteen bucks. For that reason alone I stuck 'em on everything I drove. They really sounded good on Olds and Pontiac 455's, but not bad on SBC's like the 307. Now, I'm talking the early 80's here, so the cars were mostly early 70's and before and had much more space under them than our 3rd Gens do. Also, those mufflers are now illegal in some states. (Probably because of my generation racing around in the middle of the night rattling everyone's windows.)

Anyways, I took Mark's advice and got a Hooker cat-back and a Catco high-flow converter and love the way my stock 305 sounds now. The chrome dual tips are sweet looking too.

I have headers and dual glasspacks on my 84, and they sound just fine to me! No other engine mods, yet. As far as the length and placement, I think that they are about a foot and a half long, and I have them placed just before the bumper. Nice mellow tone at idle, slightly louder at speed, loud as all hells at almost WOT.

Only thing about dynomax is that it's not very loud, other than that it's one of the best flowing exhausts out there.

Save up for a good exhaust like Flowmaster. Glasspacks sound terrible.

Since you have a 1992 Firebird..........i'd go to Midas and get you a ....Ravin......cat back system........intermidiate pipe/muffler/tails all welded up for $240.00.....not a bad price and the sound is quite mellow at idle and very nice when you open it up.....I have a 1992 Firebird also and have the Ravin system on my car but I put Camaro LT 1 tips on the end because of the style of ground effects on the 1991-92 Firebirds......got my tips on ebay for $15.00.

1992 Firebird LO3 V-8 TBI, Forest green with GFX, Black/Tan Interior, 4th gen am/fm cassette with Blaupunkt front / Cerwin Vega rear speakers.

Mods : Aluminum radiator, 200* C-4 Corvette fan switch, 180* stat, ES end links/trans mount, 2002 WS6 rear springs, Ravin cat back exhaust system with LT 1 Camaro tips, 92GTA power lumbar seats/rear deck spoiler/ 16" crossed laced rims with 245-50-16 tires, Formula hood with 82TA cold air induction louver assembly for TBI.

Similiar to Vampire above, I have a 1986 LG4 305 Quadrajet mostly stock with cheap flowtech headers, dual exhaust and $17 a piece cherry bombs. I got the longest ones I could find. IMHO my $150 (total) exhaust sounds better than any thirdgen I've ever heard. Since I got the long mufflers, it is loud, but not terribly so.

What sounds good is totally in the eye (or in this case ear) of the beholder.
