I have a 86 bird I use for street/strip action and ran into problems with true duals. For one the Heddman long tubes don't hang down low enough to clear tranny linkage/crossmember so it has funny bends and beat down on the exhaust pipe. Second, I used standard rectangle shaped mufflers-Flowmaster knockoff's- difference is Flowmasters are only 4" thick and mine are 5" thick. I beat the **** out of rear floor pans to get it hung up as close to floor as possible. With passenger and full tank of fuel I drag mufflers when I pull in and out of slightly up/downhill inclines. Then I had them turn out in front of rear tires. After I get tranny problem fixed I'm getting new exhaust system as the sponsor that put it on did a REALLY ****TY job to say the least, will never promote their bus. again cause alot of their work is way shoody. When I redo it though the turn outs will be facing each other under the car instead of down or sideways. This "helps" cancel the noise a little, plus when I start my car or pull it back into pit area I won't look like a helicopter landing on a sandhill. Guys give you funny looks when you blow dirt and dust towards their cars.
