I was wondering, how long will aluminized exhaust last? I have been told that the rust on the welds would spread over the pipe even though it was alumized I was also wondering about this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i've noticed on my older aluminized exhaust on that "line" your talking about it does rust, but thats about it on the system, they will last a really long time, unlike regular steel that will be rusted all over in a few months

 

Yep, he's right as far as I've seen.
It lasts longer than uncoated, but they're not indestructable. My welds look pretty rusty right now, tho...

 

Does anyone know how long it will last? Also, when you are talking about the rust, is it the welds where you exhaust was hooked up or the weld line from when the pipe that was made? I know that the welds to attach it will rust and I imagine the weld that was used to make the pipe would eventually.

My exhaust on my old car was 5 years old and the pipes looked better than the chrome tips. It last really long as long as it doesn't get a bunch of salt and crap on it.
