I was wondering if any one has run a 3" in/out round 4" muffler like a magnaflow bullet, before the rear end. I need something that doesn't wrap around the rear end do to bottoming out and weight issues on top of trying not to pose that my car is dual exhaust when it isn't. One shop told me that they could not do it due to ground clearance. Another thought I had since I don't need to keep the emissions is to replace the cat with a muffler like a flowmaster and run 3" pipe to the rear. Any Thoughts.

 

when I re-do my exhaust I am planning on doing pretty much the same thing... turbo muffler or something similar and have it drop off before the rear end..... much easier than putting a pipe in over the rear end, and makes the car a little louder, which of course, is always good


And since you're talking about clearance issues, here's my current setup - - that's the y-pipe hanging down. Just have to learn to drive real slow over bumps, off driveways, etc. Theres about a finger-width of space above my hand...so about 3" total, maybe a bit less
