Attention Jono or Mark-a-sheilds or anyone that knows about hooker headers/catbacks

Hey

I am going to be getting some hooker headers along with a hooker catback. I am getting the 2055s with the hi flow Y Pipe and the hooker catback thats designed for 1986-1992. I am going to be straight piping the system so there is not cat. I need to know if the Headers (2055) designed for 1986-1992 will bolt up properly to the 1985 Block or where ever they need to be bolted. Will the 1986-1992 work on a 1985.

Thanks

I can speak to the headers.

They bolt up to the engine and clear the chassis like they were made for them. The only reason they list them like they do is because they assume you're going to attach them to the rest of the factory exhaust. Since you're replacing the whole thing, no issue whatsoever.

You're going to have to have a pipe going from the y-pipe to the I pipe on the cat back. Other than that, like five7kid said all is good.

the 2055s probably aren't listed for 85s because 85-s are almost all carburated and there is no heat stove for the heat riser for the carb on the 2055. Other than that I can't imagine why they wouldn't work. I'm right in the middle of the 2055 intallation. I just have to put all the plugs wires and hoses back, and the new 3" pipe from the cat tot he muffler. The drivers side was super super easy. My pass side with my AC is a BIATCH. The Y pipe bolted up with no problems except for the fact they gave me the wrong bolts. Some 2.5"long 3/8"-16 bolts, nuts, and washers from the hardware store fixed that problem though.

The 2055's aren't listed for '85 because '85 was a bastard year with regard to the cat. Carb doesn't really have anything to do with it. The 2052's (which they don't seem to offer anymore) were listed for carb applications, the difference being the y-pipe size at the cat. And, it wasn't listed for '85s.
